Known locally as 'The Ferry', due to being the gateway to Valentia Island, Portmagee was named after a smuggler from the 18th century, Captain Theobald Magee. Brightly coloured houses line the harbour and from here you can also visit the Skellig Islands. There are a few cafes on the waterfront if you are looking for something to eat or drink.
