    Remains of the monastery mentioned in 1196 were suspected on the desert surface, and wall remains were uncovered several times during forest work. In 1976, members of the Thuringian History Association began to uncover the outline of a Benedictine nunnery in the desert. Remains of a previous building were even found there. They were the foundations of a church apse. In 1988 and 1993 a cistern and the outline of the monastery church were uncovered (Wikipedia).
