Windmill Edens, formerly De Volharding. Along this tail are now three windmills.
This was a peeling mill. These mills had other stones that separated the chaff from the whole grain instead of finely grinding the grain. a.o. barley was so husked. These mills paid little or no tax. This made barley cheap and more readily available to the poor. A hulling mill needed a lot of wind.

Year of construction 1763/1870Stone octagon with wooden structure. In 1870 the stone octagon was raised. Molen Edens is a gallery hauler (Stellingmolen), Bovenkruier (top turner). Used as a grist mill and today as a grain mill. 2 parallel millstones, sail wings, codend. The packhouse next to the mill was demolished in 1976. The Edens corn mill is the oldest and tallest windmill in the province of Groningen. In 1985 the mill was extensively restored. In 2006, the mill was raised by 3 m in order to have enough wind for the windmill due to the higher buildings in the area. The impression of 2 entrance gates one above the other is not deceptive. The elevations at the foot of the windmill, while the structure of the wooden octagon has hardly changed, mean that the mill does not appear proportional.Diameter of the windmill blades 22.40 mComb wheel with 71 combsGallery height 13 mSource and more: levrai.de/themen/windmuehlen/niederlande/winschoten_edens_molens.htm
