The Rosarium was started in 1967 . Winschoten is now the city of the rose. However, the Kloosterhuis family stood at the basis and the real economic significance. Active for more than 150 years and in the past was internationally known as a world top rose rootstock grower. Many roses in Great Britain, the land of roses, come from the Winschoten grower. The trade is now focused on (forest plantation) trees. Unfortunately, we cannot find any reference to a tribute to this family, which is so important to Winschoten. However, Pr. During her visit to Winschoten in 2017, Máxima visited both the rosarium and the Kloosterhuis firm when she unveiled a new rose.See also Monastery House in Sint Vitushold.
