Johann Georg Grasel (born April 4, 1790 in Neuserowitz, Czech Nové Syrovice, near Moravian Budwitz, today Moravské Budějovice; † January 31, 1818 in Vienna) was a Bohemian/Moravian/Austrian robber.
The son of a knacker made a living from theft, robbery, fraud and receiving stolen goods, gathering a gang of around 60 members around him, which earned him the reputation of a feared "robber captain" in Lower Austria and southern Moravia. In 1815 he was captured in Mörtersdorf near Horn and later executed in Vienna. In folk tradition, he was posthumously stylized without any real basis as a noble robber who - like Robin Hood - stole from the rich and gave gifts to the poor. This is what feeds the modern tourist marketing of Grasel.

10/25/2016 - The castle as a former castle was the eastern attachment point. The 16 meter high, semi-circular west tower is impressive. Also worth seeing is the Graselturm - named after the notorious Waldviertel robber. The mightiest of Horn's city towers is the gun turret in the south near the Öhlknechthof.
