In 1923 the Shanghai Episcopal Church provided funds to built a church outside Xiaokunshan. It was occupied by the Japanese during the war and had different usages after the war - until it was demolished in 1986.
In 1991 a land plot was allocated for a new church and in 1993 funds have been allocated to rebuild the church.
