The original wooden bridge was one of the first over the Nidda and part of an important trade route to northern Germany. It was later renovated in stone and received its current late classicist appearance around 1894 - but now only leads over an oxbow river of the Nidda.

The most beautiful of the Bad Vilbel bridges was built around 1980 as a pedestrian and cycle path bridge to the Old Mill. The wooden construction with trusses for statics offers a box seat in the middle with a view of the Nidda. When the Old Mill was converted into a cultural center in 1991, the covered mill bridge was built. At that time, the entire structure was delivered by low-loader and assembled on two concrete supports. The bridge is 39.46 meters long and 4.06 meters wide, measured from the overhanging roof.
