Bursfelde Monastery had a major impact on European monastic life with its reforms in the 15th century and therefore has a great history! The complex, parts of which have been preserved today, is particularly impressive with the Romanesque basilica of St. Thomas and St. Nicholas. Definitely worth seeing!

The former Benedictine abbey from 1093 embraced the Evangelical Lutheran faith during the Reformation in 1543. One of the bells of Königsberg Cathedral hangs in the monastery church.
