Experience an excursion under steam - with the Weißeritztalbahn, the longest-serving, publicly operated narrow-gauge railway in Germany. The Weisseritz Valley Railway climbs the heights of the Eastern Ore Mountains on a 26-kilometer route, overcoming a height difference of 350 meters.

Steam train operation on a narrow gauge between Freital-Hainsberg and the health resort of Kipsdorf.

Furthermore, the Weißeritztalbahn also regularly offers special trips and events. Tickets for the narrow-gauge railway are available from the tourist information office, which is located in the station building. The station grounds and the hall alone are worth a visit. You'd think you were travelling back to a time 40 years ago. Everything is absolutely authentically recreated - just like it used to be at train stations. We were a little disappointed that there was no longer a ticket counter and we had to get the tickets personally.
But at least you can redeem your ticket on the train with a real conductor. And that's worth it too👍
