Tips

  • Experience an excursion under steam - with the Weißeritztalbahn, the longest-serving, publicly operated narrow-gauge railway in Germany. The Weisseritz Valley Railway climbs the heights of the Eastern Ore Mountains on a 26-kilometer route, overcoming a height difference of 350 meters.

Steam train operation on a narrow gauge between Freital-Hainsberg and the health resort of Kipsdorf.

Furthermore, the Weißeritztalbahn also regularly offers special trips and events. Tickets for the narrow-gauge railway are available from the tourist information office, which is located in the station building. Kipsdorf train station is also an ideal starting point for planned hiking or cycling tours.

  • What a nostalgic experience!
The Weißeritztalbahn is the second oldest narrow-gauge railway in Saxony and the longest-serving publicly operated narrow-gauge railway in Germany. The line has run from Freital-Hainsberg near Dresden through the valley of the Rote Weisseritz to Dippoldiswalde and since 1883 to Kipsdorf in the Eastern Ore Mountains and is considered one of the most beautiful railway lines in Europe because of its scenic diversity.
