This is the longest of the three railway tunnels here. It gets immediately more chilly once you are in during summer, which can be quite refreshing. Be careful with the cyclist as some do not seem to be able to read the 'slow' signs.

The lights in the tunnel go out at 6pm, so if you venture out forb late walk maybe take a torch

Walking through the tunnel you'll notice alcoves. These were built in for workers to stand in if they happened to be in the tunnel when a train came through. And don't forget that originally there were two tracks.
