Then the earthquake of 1968, emigration and the rise of the new residential district of the Sasi district depopulated these places, and with the abandonment a slow degradation took over. For some years many suggestive corners of the historic center of Calatafimi have been removed from decay, restructured and destined to illustrate its history and traditions.
