Today's Vörden Castle was built in 1734 by the master builder Justus Wehmer by the family of the Barons von Haxthausen in place of an old castle. It has been owned by the Barons von Haxthausen family to this day (and since 1582) and is not open to the general public. The palace park is open to the public.
