The Old Church Park is one of the most popular recreation parks in the city center. The nickname "Ruttopuisto" dates back to the early 1960s and this nickname is still used today, even though those who died from the plague were buried next to the Old Church Park. The tombstones in the park commemorate the area's cemetery history. The area's cemeteries were eventually allowed to give way to the growing city. The park, like other parks in the city center, is now a popular place to stay. Smaller events are also organized there. Vanhakirkko, located in the park, is the second oldest church in Helsinki.

During our visit on 26.080.2023 (Saturday) there was a large flea market.

Small park-like place that commemorates the plague victims who were buried here.

The place is relatively busy, clean, and is often used as a meeting place and for dog owners to walk their dogs.

It is certainly very beautiful in summer with the green trees, but unfortunately a bit dreary in spring.
