Fort Pettelaar was demolished in July 1672 to prevent a French occupation. A higher site with a special shape, on which a restaurant now stands, is reminiscent of the former fort.
Also called Fort St. Michiel. The route is still present, the place of the ramparts is planted with trees, and the canals are dug out.

To the south of 's-Hertogenbosch lies the Pettelaerse bos and various walking routes pass through it. You cross the Sterrebosch and Oud Herlaer. It is largely on unpaved paths with beautiful vistas, farms and a branch of the Dommel. At Oud Herlaer you can see Castle Maurick in the distance and on the way back to the Pettelaer you have a view of Provinciehuis ''s-Hertogenbosch.
