Gribskovlejren (German: Gribskovlager) was originally - since the law of 1917 - a camp for conscientious objectors, who initially had to do mainly work in state forestry during their service. In 1943 the camp was closed, but immediately after the war it was reopened. As the number of conscientious objectors increased, more camps were set up in different locations in Denmark. The camp in Gribskov was closed in 1984. In recent years, under the leadership of the Red Cross, the camp has served as a shelter for refugees under the age of 18, who have come to Denmark alone.
