Since 2017, hardly a working day has passed on the former air base without excavation, moving soil, demolishing old things or planning and building new ones. Something is constantly changing on the site, which is the size of 175 football pitches. A new information and viewing platform, which Mayor Jürgen Krogmann inaugurated on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, helps to keep an overview. “This nine meter high tower is intended to serve the public equally as an information point, a window into the district and a place to rest for bike tours. From this point you get a good impression of the Herculean task of transforming a former military area into a lively district in which up to 3,000 people can find their new home.
