The Maderturm is the only still existing tower of the former Abensberg castle complex, which originally consisted of 32 round and 8 corner towers. According to legend, Count Babo from Abensberg had a renegade daughter walled in in the tower. Today's name goes back to the former name Marterturm. It has been privately owned for centuries.
