The Castle Wineck, also Weineck or (falsely) Windeck (French Château de Wineck or Château du Wineck), is the ruin of a late Romanesque hillside in the Alsace department of Haut-Rhin. Standing on a rocky plateau, it towers over 330 meters high above NN the small village Katzenthal five kilometers northwest of Colmar. It is the only Alsatian castle in the midst of vineyards, whence its name comes from: Wineck means "Weineck". The surrounded granite vineyard Wineck-Schlossberg produces a Riesling and is one of the Alsatian top wines (Alsace Grand Cru).
