The "Porte haute" gate, also known as the Dolder Tower, is part of the first city wall dating from 1291.
The gate, built at the end of the 13th century, was enlarged when the defenses were reinforced around 1500. Some of the defense elements can still be seen: the wooden double-leaf door, the wooden portcullis, the opening where the drawbridge was located.
