Mogno, a beautiful little village in the Lavizzara region in the district of Vallemaggia in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.Well known because of the striking and beautiful church of San Giovanni Battista designed by Mario Botta.

Hardly anyone spoke of Mogno or knew this faction belonging to the municipality of Lavizzara in the Maggia Valley if an avalanche had not destroyed the church there in 1986 and with it a few other buildings. The catastrophe was less about the fact that the church was to be rebuilt and the project for Mario Botta was given.
