In 1666 the citizens pledge
Hofheims to carry out an annual pilgrimage if their community was spared from the plague. As a result, the Königstein Cross made of red sandstone was donated by the citizens of Hofheim in 1792 and erected on the former Königsteiner Weg. The cross is a meeting place for pilgrims who come from Königstein to make a pilgrimage to the mountain chapel together with the believers from Hofheim.
