"The mill pond clearly marks the historic mill site above the village of Frohlinde. An information board at the site indicates that the mill was built in its current form as early as 1830. The origin of the mill at this location dates back to the 13th century. The mill pond dams the incoming water from the two strands of the mill ditch. During the mining period, the water flow was impaired. As a result, the Frohlinde mill converted its operation to an electric drive in 1949. Since then, the mill pond has lost its original function. Today it is a cultural-historical testimony and also serves as a local recreation area on the outskirts of the village."(LWL-Denkmalpflege, Landschafts- und Baukultur in Westfalen, 2008)
