Hermann Löns is regarded as a Heath poet and local writer. He himself was a townsman and intellectual. As a reaction to the emerging urbanization at the beginning of the industrial mass age, his heart was attached to the barren sandy soil of the heath and its farmers.

The homeland writer Hermann Löns was born on 29.08.1866 in Culm near Bromberg. After his death in 1914, many memorial stones were erected to commemorate him. One of them can be found on Kammweg in Oerlinghausen. He was placed in this place in 1928.
