The park was transformed from a Renaissance garden into a Baroque garden in the 18th century. This was commissioned by Count Christian Ernst zu Stolberg-Wernigerode. At the entrance to the park is a 16th-century gate with lions. The Orangery is now used by the State Archives of Saxony-Anhalt. From 1830, the pleasure garden was redesigned into an English landscape park and the many foreign trees typical of it. The Lustgarten is freely accessible and open 24 hours a day, all year round.
