Construction of the new church began in 1879. The church was consecrated on the 25th Sunday after Trinity,
November 14, 1880.
There had previously been an older church in Neuenkirchen.
It had become too small for the large congregation.
Because many congregants could not find a seat during services, the decision was finally made to build a new one.

On December 21, 1877, the church council decided with 3: 2 votes to build a new church. Nothing has been recorded on the demolition of the old church.
