A chapel in Pyrbaum already existed in 1278, but a dispute broke out over its ownership between the parish of Allersberg and the knight Albert Rindsmaul zu Grünsberg, which the knight won in his favour. In the aftermath is this
Chapel then called Willibaldkapelle and assigned by Bishop Reimbott von Mylenhart (1279-1297) to the respective vicar in Pölling for provision.

The hall church, built in 1519 by the Wolfsteins and burnt down to its outer walls in 1926, was rebuilt in 1927. It consists of a nave supported by buttresses and a choir in the east, closed on three sides and also supported by buttresses, which is only recessed on the south side. Both are made of ashlar masonry, to which a choir flank tower is attached, the lower floors of which, dating from the 14th century, are supported by a buttress, and the upper floors are plastered and fitted with corner stones. The top, recessed floor above a viewing platform houses the tower clock. An onion dome sits on top of it. The portal is in a risalit on the north side of the nave.
