This 23.9-mile (38.5 km) journey includes a notable 1448 feet (441 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 2 hours and 28 minutes to complete. You will cycle through tranquil lochside paths near Balloch, then transition to quiet single-track roads winding through gentle, mixed scenery of cattle, pine trees, and barley as you approach the historic sites.

Starting in Balloch, this popular route is predominantly paved, with approximately 21.2 km of asphalt and 17.0 km of other paved surfaces, making for a smooth ride for most of the way.
