Designed by Chief Engineer Murdoch Paterson and built by the Highland railway the impressive 29 arches of the Culloden viaduct that stretch over the valley and River Nairn really is a great sight to see on your highland travels. Opened in 1989 and still used today as the main rail link into the Highlands, it is the longest masonry viaduct in Scotland at 1800ft (549m) long and is a Category A listed building.

Culloden Viaduct carries trains on the Highland Main Line over the River Nairn valley, its 29 spans stretching 549 metres, making it Scotland's longest masonry viaduct. Designed by Murdoch Paterson, and opened in 1898 as part of the Inverness and Aviemore Direct Railway, it is a Historic Scotland Category A-listed building.

Culloden Moor railway station, situated at the northern end of the viaduct, was closed in the 1960s but the viaduct remains in use today.

Old, huge railway viaduct. Works even after 100 years!
