A few houses perched along a ridge of Monte Canale, crowded around the small church, the village of Villa Maindi tells centuries of history.

An ancient post station along the road that connected the Adriatic to the Tyrrhenian Sea, it saw pilgrims, migrants, soldiers and smugglers pass by. The small church, dedicated to the Madonna della Quercia, to whom oral tradition attributes a miraculous event, was anciently dedicated to San Martino, protector of soldiers, innkeepers and merchants; the date 1619 is engraved on the monolithic sandstone portal.

The oldest nucleus, almost completely restored, is all that remains of a convent; under the loggia, a beautiful decorated portal has been preserved.
