The colonnade is a bosquet in the garden of the Palace of Versailles in France. It was built in 1685 by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in place of an older bosquet by André Le Nôtre, known as the source grove.
The actual colonnade within the bosquet is a circular structure 32 meters in diameter. It is formed by 32 white and pink columns connected by arcades, under which are 32 fountains. The center of the bosquet is a group of sculptures depicting Pluto abducting Proserpina. The colonnade is one of the most elaborate bosquets of the Versailles palace garden. Like all bosquets, it originally served as an open-air salon where concerts and other performances took place.

Built from 1685 by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the Colonnade replaces the Bosquet des Sources created by Le Nôtre in 1679. It takes its name from the peristyle – made up of 32 marble columns – which encircles the sculpted group depicting the Abduction of Proserpina , executed by François Girardon between 1678 and 1699.

Restoration work is underway here at the moment... it will probably be a feast for the eyes again in spring/summer.
