Romanesque church with beautiful reliefs and capitals from the High Middle Ages. The church is first mentioned in documents from the Lombard period in the 9th century (854). It received its present form essentially in the 11th century. A place of tranquility on the rather hectic section of the Via Francigena. At the neighboring tourist office in Fornovo, we were asked if we would allow ourselves to be photographed for social media. In return, we received small pieces of Parmigiano as a gift.

The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, also known as the parish church of Fornovo, is a Catholic place of worship with Romanesque features located in Piazza IV Novembre in Fornovo di Taro, in the province and diocese of Parma; it belongs to the group of Parmesan parish churches and is part of the pastoral area of Berceto-Fornovo-Medesano.
The original place of worship was built in the Lombard era, probably in the 9th century: the first evidence of its existence dates back to 854.
