The area around the dam Heyda is a well-known recreational area and invites every nature lover to go hiking. The dam dams the Wipfra at Ilmenau in southern Thuringia. The dam was built from 1980 to 1988 and put into operation in 1989 for irrigation purposes. Further uses are: low water elevation, service water supply, flood protection and of course local recreation. On the photos you can see the area around the dam, as well as the green dam itself.
