The “Path of Remembrance” runs a total of 94 km in the German-Belgian border area through the municipalities of Büllingen(B), Bütgenbach(B), Weismes(B), Hellenthal and Monschau.
Along the route, 30 plaques remind hikers of important events and places from the times of the two world wars. Examples include: the Battle of the Bulge, smuggling, the West Wall and the attack on Dwight D. Eisenhower's train in Bütgenbach.

This section of the path is part of the hiking stage “Path of Remembrance” and also part of the cultural path of the Eifel Association, Ortsgruppe Kalterherberg e.V.

On the way in the German-Belgian border area of the "High Fens / Eifel Nature Park", the hiker not only encounters beautiful nature, but also occasionally signposts and information boards of the "Sentier du souvenir" ("Path of Remembrance"). This is a joint border-connecting project that - over a total length of 94 kilometers, essentially along the former West Wall - reminds us of the horror of war and tyranny and reminds every generation anew to maintain peace (still a very important and, when we look to Eastern Europe, a very topical concern).
Particularly striking (or better: noteworthy) stations on this "path of remembrance" are marked with an information board - an invitation to pause on your own path (in life).
