In the 12th century various identical stone houses were founded in Rosheim. The Romanesque house, for example, is very well preserved. You could live there but also defend yourself like in a keep. The most important figures of the city lived in these comfortable houses, such as wealthy merchants, representatives of religious institutions or even knights. A piece of the original wooden beam that was above the cellar door was removed during the restoration. This could be used to date the construction: 1154!
