Construction was completed in 1873. In 1952, the town hall was expanded with an elongated new building in Kerkstraat. This part is not recognized as a monument.
The town hall is a fine example of classically oriented eclecticism. This is the mixing of different styles and techniques. The exterior facade of the town hall mainly contains Baroque elements, the interior is neoclassical.
