The cap forms the easternmost point of the island of Rügen and the Vorpommern-Rügen district. The approximately 1500 meter long promontory has the shape of an isosceles triangle, which ends in a point to the east in an approximately 20 meter high wooded cliff. The Nordperd was fortified by coastal protection measures and thus cut off from active processes of the compensation coast.
