"The Nordperd (Perd = Slavic promontory) is a cape on Rügen It is part of the Biosphere Reserve Southeast Rügen and the nature reserve Mönchgut.
The cape forms the easternmost point of the island of Rügen and the district of Vorpommern-Rügen. The approximately 1,500 meter long promontory has the shape of an isosceles triangle, which ends pointedly to the east in a woody cliff about 20 meters high. The Nordperd was fortified by coastal protection measures and thus cut off from active processes of the balancing coast.
The sub-area Nordperd the nature reserve Mönchgut covers 69 ha. Characteristic are dry grasslands, the sycamore-Eschenhangwald on the cliff and beach and shallow water areas.
The northern beach section with spa promenade of the seaside resort Göhren is separated by the cape Nordperd from the south-facing beach Göhrens.
Between the Göhrener pier and the Nordperd Buskam is the largest found so far in northern Germany, which protrudes about one meter from the sea. "Source: Wikipedia
