The former Mastaba (Veli Pasha Mosque) is an imposing city mosque consisting of 9 domes outside of the old town of Rethymnon in Markellou Street. It was built in the mid-19th century and has been restored again in recent decades. It now houses the small Palaeontological Museum of Rethymnon.
A visit is definitely worthwhile - if only because of the architecture of the mosque and the surrounding buildings. Entry costs 4 euros. You are not allowed to take photos inside.
