The "Seggiola del Papa" is one of the symbols of the city of Ancona. It is a rock so called by the people of Ancona due to its particular shape. The gigantic rock is semi-connected to the shore by long stone tongues on the water. Its origin is of an erosive type due to the different composition of the strata in the lower middle Miocene period.
