The castle chapel of St. Ägidius was the first parish church in Waldeck and dates back to the 12th century. During a restoration in the 1980s, it was made recognizable as a modern open-air chapel.
In 2015, the church received a new bell, which was cast in Waldeck. It also received a new bell tower. Auxiliary Bishop Reinhard Pappenberger consecrated the new bell. The St. Ägidius Chapel was thus complete again after the restoration.

Above the village lies the Waldeck castle with the castle chapel of Sankt Ägidius. A medieval open-air chapel that is worth seeing, designed by its charisma, services are still held on given occasions. A visit to the castle ruins with the chapel is definitely worthwhile, as you also have a beautiful view of the area around Waldeck.

The castle chapel St. Ägid existed already since the 12th century; old plans tell of their location in the lower courtyard. In the course of the renovation of the castle ruins, it was made recognizable again and designed as a modern open-air chapel. The bell was elaborately cast directly on site.
