From Rüdesheim to Assmannshausen you can either choose the new cycle path directly on the Rhine (next to the main road) or the spectacular connection halfway up through the steep vineyard slopes. The views of the Middle Rhine Valley, Bingen and the Nahe as well as the Donnersberg in the Palatinate are very impressive. Halfway you drive past the impressive castle ruins of Ehrenfels. If you want to do a lap, you can continue uphill into the Niederwald to the Hotel Jagdschloss shortly before Assmannshausen and from there back towards the Niederwalddenkmal.
