The parish church in Greiffenberg originally dates from the 13th century.
After severe damage in the Thirty Years' War, the church was completely rebuilt in 1723/1724, probably using parts of the previous medieval building. It was renovated between 1961 and 1964. It is closed inside by a plaster ceiling on a cove with stucco profiles; an organ gallery is installed in the west. At the beginning of 2017 the bell had to be shut down. Experts found considerable damage caused by dry rot on the church tower. Wetness that had penetrated over the years had caused considerable damage to the entire wooden structure. After the start of the renovation work, it turned out that the damage was more serious than expected. The parish had to sell the vicarage to finance it.[1] The church tower was renovated by the end of 2021. The building also received a new bell, which was inaugurated on October 14, 2021. It comes from the Reconciliation Church in Essen-Rüttenscheid, which was abandoned by the local parish. The four bronze bells from the 1960s replace two steel bells from the 1920s that have become dilapidated.[2] The overall renovation is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

In 2017, the church bells had to be shut down because a construction inspection discovered massive damage caused by dry rot.
