The Zouweboezem is a swampy nature reserve that lies directly against Sluis. The area was the inner-dike part of the former mill complex. Today, the Zouweboezem is an important stopover for migratory birds at European level, and the habitat of many other species of birds and aquatic animals. The area therefore attracts many nature lovers, birdwatchers and hikers. In winter, the Zederik, which flows through the area, serves as an ice rink, especially for Ameide and Tienhoven. However, the ice rink usually also attracts many people from Meerkerk and Lexmond.
