The Zuishinmon Gate (随神門 in Japanese) is the entrance gate to Mt. Haguro. Before Mt. Haguro was converted to Shintoism in 1868, it was once called Niomon (a common name given to gates to Buddhist temples), vestige of its Buddhist origins. It now features two statues of two Shinto gods that have replaced the original Buddhist Nio statues (now stored in the Koganedo Hall down in the pilgrim lodge town).
You can arrive at the Zuishinmon Gate by getting of the bus from Tsuruoka station at the bus stop "Haguro Zuishinmon-mae".
