About Bandai-Asahi National Park
We are a bunch of nature lovers who want to protect and promote the Japanese National Park called "Bandai Asahi" in Fukushima, Niigata, and Yamagata Prefectures, where the hikers can discover dozens of ancient shrines and temples, local endemic plant species and watch wild animals such as the Japanese serow, the Japanese bush warbler or the Japanese stoat.

Rokujurigoe Kaido cycling: Kobo no Watashi to Matsune Hachiman Shrine

Cycling on e-bikes from Kobo no Watashi's temple to Matsune Hachiman Shrine. Don't recommend hiking it on foot. Mostly paved roads.

Petite balade le long de la vieille route de pèlerinage du sommet du mont Haguro au temple Kotakuji. Merci de ne pas marcher ce sentier durant les retraites yamabushi du pic de l'automne (fin août début septembre)

    1. The Rokujūrigoe Kaidō Pilgrimage Trail is an ancient pilgrim’s path first mentioned over 1,200 years ago. It also goes by the name of Yudono-michi (the path to Mt. Yudono), as it was used by the Dewa Sanzan pilgrims to visit the sacred Mt. Yudono. It is a delight to follow, allowing you to imagine what

    1. Mt. Haguro is the northernmost of the Dewa Sanzan sacred mountains, the oldest sites of mountain worship in Japan. Its summit is also the lowest of the three, standing at 414 metres (1,358 ft), making it hikable throughout the year. The trek to the top is full of cultural and spiritual wonder, with impressive

    1. This stage starts near the sacred Yudonosan-jinja shrine and ascends across Mt. Yudono’s verdant flanks before descending to Shizu Onsen. It’s a fairly strenuous hike at over 10 kilometres (6 mi) with a good deal of up and down to contend with.

    1. Mt. Gassan is the most important step in the Dewa Sanzan’s yamabushi training and is the highest of the Three Mountains of Dewa at 1,984 metres (6,509 feet). This hike ascends gradually from Gassan Hachigome, taking you past marshes and wildflower meadows, before you arrive at the secretive Gassan-jinja

    1. This downhill hike takes you from the sacred sites on Mt. Gassan’s summit to the Yudonosan-jinja shrine, the most holy of all the Dewa Sanzan shines, on Mt. Yudono. It’s a beautifully scenic route with soaring mountain views and an exciting laddered section on the Gakkô-zaka slope, just before the end
