The 1920s-style restaurant is located in the historic S-Bahn arches directly at the Friedrichstrasse station. The former Restaurant Nolle was originally located in the disused elevated train station on Berlin's Nollendorfplatz. The above-ground part of the station, which was inaugurated in 1902, was closed in the early 1970s. The Berlin Wall, erected in 1961, prevented further train operations. In 1973 the "Nolle" moved in there together with the Berlin antiques and flea market. Historic subway cars served as salesrooms and the "Nolle" was not just a place where the Sunday brunch was a big party. The "Nolle" quickly became a popular bar for visitors to Berlin and Berliners. Reunification in 1990 also stimulated rail traffic between East and West. The elevated train now ran again via Nollendorfplatz to Pankow. So the "Nolle" moved into the S-Bahn arches at Friedrichstrasse station. The rustic vaults also have an eventful gastronomic history. The famous restaurant "Zum Franziskaner" has been located here for more than 60 years since 1882, a place of hearty hospitality with beer and hearty meals.
