Beautiful castle on the side of the road. Nearby there is still a watermill and a monument to those killed in the wars.

Gartrop Castle, located in Hünxe on the Lower Rhine, is an impressive moated castle and is one of the most important buildings from the 17th century. However, its origins date back to the 13th century, when it was first mentioned in documents as the manor of the von Gardapen family. Over time, it changed hands several times and was significantly expanded by the von Hüchtenbruck family in the 17th century. This noble family played an important role in the region and served both the Werden Abbey and later the Duchy of Cleves.The castle is now surrounded by a spacious park in the English landscape style, which is characterized by moats and historic trees. Inside the castle there is a hotel that impresses with its luxurious rooms and the "Edgar and Elisabeth" restaurant.
