From this parking lot you walk directly to the entrance of the Waterdunen. Here are 2 of the 3 routes. The Orange Bird Route of 5.5 km and the Blue Golf Route of 9 km. Both walking routes run on easily accessible paths and take you over decking paths, past viewing huts and screens via the sea. We were lucky enough to spot an osprey, a curlew and the little egret here. Along the way you will come across a few benches to rest. Highly recommended to visit this nature reserve!

The 350-hectare recreational and nature reserve has been given back to nature and the sea. Between 2017 and 2021, the site of the former "Napoleon Hoeve" campsite and the adjacent "Oud-en Jong Breskenspolder" were renatured: For this purpose, the dyke was breached at one point and a dyke lock ("Getijdenduiker") was built, which controls the salty water at high tide Seawater floods the former polder land and drains off again at low tide.
The stars of "Waterdunen", the many birds, took possession of the renatured area months ago and built their nests on the bird islands.
