The name comes from Low German and translates to something like "Kick it" or "Step on it." This is the official motto of the cycling section of the Turnerbrüderschaft (TB) Bortfeld e. V. The bridge is therefore the unofficial "home port" and starting point for the tours, which are usually between 30 and 40 kilometers long.
