The high building is one of the oldest buildings in the city, inhabited since 1440 and at that time owned by the Teutonic Order. However, the exact history and significance of this building cannot be clarified beyond doubt. The building is currently privately owned and cannot be visited freely.
The tower-like building may well have been the prototype of a castle whose only protection was its location on an "island". The basement and the two floors above are made of quarry stone, the upper floor is made of half-timbering. The masonry of the building belongs to the 13th century. At the corners there are hump blocks with a wide edge bevel. The high roof offered enough storage space for supplies. The interior, perhaps also the structure, was modified in the 15th century. There are no traces of external fortifications, such as ditches. On the east side on the ground floor there is a pointed-arched door, above it on the first floor a cloverleaf arched double window from the late Romanesque period of the 13th century.
